In Her Eyes
In her eyes
I see the verve in the rhythm
Of her life
Where the nights of winter
Shine bright and the days of
Summer cool to her touch
I see the verses of her poetry
And the lyrics in her song as
They tell her story
In her eyes
I see the night winds blow and the
Early morning light is eager to go
Out darkness begs to take
It slow
I see the melancholy that lingers
From the scars of living as time
Watches her grow
In her eyes
I see the twinkle of the stars as
They speak of her journey
Through the episodes of being
I see hope born in a galaxy of love
As she shares herself
The consummate nurturer that
She is
In her eyes
I see a friend a sister a wife
I see her passion her moods
her emotions and her fears
I see the truthfulness of her heart
Full in the joys of the labor
Of carrying her children
And as I hug her and tell her that
I love her I look in the eyes of
My mother
