In Due Time

My darling, why did you go You won’t tell me under the moon You won’t tell in the morning glow And in the dim afternoon Why must we deal with the time Why can’t it leave us alone I want us to live, but we die There was a time, but its gone Our space is reduced to an archive Your garden is touched with decay What do I know except still I’m alive And you can’t be here today So into dust we return This perpetual law of the dust Beckons our flesh to be burned To feed the insatiable past Memory serves but it fails Time takes it back from a man The wind fell asleep in my sails I want to see you again Silence is one stern reply There'll be one more in due time You know the answer, either do I Together again we'll entwine.
