I've come to see this social site
As something more than just a rite
A place where I can write and grow
(While other poets come-and-go)
It's not perfection - nothing is
Still, I enjoy these hers and his
No place is better than its peeps
So many here are friends for keeps
Contests are, for me, a means
A grand device for crafting scenes
What I might not spawn otherwise
With just the limits of my guise
Each public site with limits, thus
Reflects the best and worst of us
It's not about what place we earn
But rather how we grow and learn
Perhaps there's some are sorry it's
Not jammed with poet laureates
But that would lead to detriment
Just rife with sad discouragement
So while it's hard, sometimes, to take
That some don't hit the contest brake
I SHAN'T be one that questions rules
Thus made and placed to suffer fools
For when I joined this Poetry Soup
I signed the laws of this fine group
So, though I might not quite agree
I'm bound and pleased to let it be.
