In Bed Alone

In the dark,
Familiar sounds of dogs
Barking wake me from
A dream of you sleeping,
Warm and close,
Next to me.

I reach out for your hip,
But find only absence.

In the dark,
I think of you,
The sweetness of your smile,
The gentle rise and fall
Of your voice,
The well worn softness
Of your nightgown
That hugs you like I do
When we're near.

I miss you, Dear!
