IN AND OF A PRANKING TRAGEDY

(Apropos Of A Poetic Homily)

 

We must remind

Our children of

Those false-fun

Pranks, 

That can cost

Their lives,

And false-glory

Thanks:- 

We must not

Allow ourselves

To be parents

That endorses pranks

To warrant 

Our children’s thanks

For being allowed

To inject pain and fear

Upon those of us

In which kids’ pranks

Are not so clear:-

Indeed, with a prankster

Child shot and killed,

We can’t just

And say, “It’s God’s will!

No! Let's get down

On bending knees

And send up

Healing prayers

For each family

Suffering such 

A tragedy:-

And may God

Forgive parents

Like you and me,

And all others,

Who may have

Been blindsided

In the unawareness

Of such a tragic

Possibility:-

Merciful Father God,

Bestow Within Us,

Your Divine Wisdom

And Guidance;

Navigating Us

Along The Pathway

Of Righteousness,

In Giving this

Ding Dong Ditch

Prank Game,

It’s Hell-Bound

Exodus:-

Heavenly Father,

Strengthen Each Family

Suffering This Horrendous

Tragedy:-

Precious Father,

In Our Hours

Of Love’s Moaning,

In Times 

Of Keloid Memories,

Let Us Ever Be Mindful

Of Your Forgiveness

And Healing Grace;

Strengthening Us

In The Words

Penned in

Psalm 30,

Verse 5:

“In…[God’s]...Favour Is life.

Weeping May Endure

For A Night, But Joy

Cometh In The Morning.”

We must remind
Our children of

As a GrandPa, a retired teacher with over 50 years of classroom experience (Middle School, High School, Teacher's College), and as a poet, who still teaches part-time, in a labor of love, I just had to speak out and offer up prayerful awareness. We also need to give attention to our young people's addiction to "pranking" AI games. I am so pleased that this poetic pen resonated with you. Have a blessed day. One. Peace and Love.
