Notes About The Poem

In a Pink World

I live in a pink world,
and I am pink.

I'd rather be blue or red
or yellow,

or just make me green.
Put me in a forest of green,

deep within its beautiful
ferns and leafy fronds.

Let rain fall sofly
and richly,

and I will soak
it up

like a woman dying
of thirst

in a pink desert
in this pink world

where I am expected
to be a princess

by everyone
except the green forest

and the rain.

Hello Chetta, Your poem speaks volumes with its raw honesty and yearning for authenticity. It contrasts the suffocating expectations of a pink world with the longing for the freedom and vitality of green. It's a powerful reflection on societal pressures and the desire to break free from conformity. - Blessings, Daniel

Yes. When we are teenagers the pressure to conform is tremendous. Hopefully as we age we begin to realize we have the freedom to become independent of other's expectations.

One either loves pink or hates it. I like this colorful poem and the sharp contrasts in symbolism.
