In a Picture

Juxtaposed to her visage
          frozen
in time like a work of art
I examine my image
as a note of currency
held to the light for a watermark
my smile suspiciously pleased
to have been caught
in the presence of cheer
the look in my eyes of apprehension
the moment was other than real
the moment I knew
          it could never be
                    like that again

This is a lovely composition, Chuck...a monumental moment in time.... and I also like the structure. "my smile suspiciously pleased to have been caught in the presence of cheer"... love those lines, especially the use of "suspiciously pleased"...welcome back Chuck, I've missed ya! Always, Laura
