In a Museum

In a museum I no longer care To read what they write on the wall. I look at the art, check the names and the dates And don’t need much more info at all. I don’t want to listen to audio guides Explaining the backgrounds of works. Just having the time for some gallery strolls Is the best of retirement’s perks. As I’ve gotten older, my patience is thin So historical facts make me bored, But the chance to see paintings and sculpture to me Is enough of a lovely reward.

ilene I love this poem as well as museum strolls. I usual look at a piece before I read who created it. If I like it; then I'll delve deeper into it's history. Thanks

You are really smart, Ilene. Those recordings are toxic! They just highlight any smidgen of racism, prejudice, etc. which the ultra-liberal curators feel obligated to dig up. Yeccccchhhhhhh!

I’m with you, Ilene. All I need to know about a sculpture or a painting is “Do I like it?”. I don’t care who it’s by, I don’t care if It genuinely wasn’t painted by a six year old… and if some lazy woman didn’t make her bed….. IT AIN’T ART! But the simple opportunity to breathe it all in is, I guess, where you’re coming from. And you’re dead right. Another smart write, Ilene. Like it much. Terry
