In a Dark Room On Halloween
older post....
Halloween night was near its’ end,
The trick-or-treaters had gone,
We ushered away our costumed friends,
“Til tomorrow, we love you, so long!”
I headed upstairs, oh what a night-
In the morning I'd go through my treats,
I didn’t even bother to turn on the light,
I shut the door and went right to sleep-
I awoke to cool breezes blowing over my face,
For a moment I thought I was doomed,
Isn’t that a sign of a ghost? -my heart raced,
I hoped there was no but me in my room-
I tried really hard to go back to sleep,
But my brain was working too fast,
I felt something on my bed start to creep,
So onto my pillow I clasped-
I thought to myself, it’s all in your head,
Close your eyes, there's nothing to fear,
That’s when the breezes again crossed my bed,
I was frozen in silence with tears-
I tried not to think, I tried not to wrest,
I thought I’d go out of my mind,
I was absolutely, totally stressed,
I was afraid if I looked, what I’d find-
It was then that I heard a loud screeching yell,
So I jumped out of bed to the wall,
I didn’t know if this night would end well,
As my brother hollered down from the hall-
“Hey, sis – I left my cat in your room,
And the fan on ‘cause it was so warm,
That’s when this witch got onto to her broom,
And threw words out that hit like a storm!
