Impulse

You feel it sometimes,
a slight twitch of the soul
(though you don't know
yet you are part eternity),
all you can see is the mud
and sweat of earth days--
but if you try, really try to
raise your soul, you might
feel it rise in your time-
bound body as it seeks
to sing and soar and see
the brightness of Heaven.

"A twitch in the soul," "part eternity," "bound body as it seeks" - you had me from the first line and carried me up on wings of possibility, LJ. Beautifully expressed. I loved this. Congratulations on a well deserved win!
