Important Words

I was asked, "What is important to you?" by a friend- she was just making conversation... I was silent, deep in thought of diversity- The true meaning of important. Other than the worldly treasures of love, money to survive, intelligence and adventure- WORDS- was my answer. Words. Power. Intelligence. Knowledge. Adventure. Love. Death. Birth. God. Evil. Conception. Contemplation. Life. Living. Ovid, Homer, Ducasse, Rimbaud, Patterson, Rice, Strieber, Jung, Darwin, Verne, Grisham, Seneca, Christ... As I read the words from the greatest, and not so greatest, of minds- It is all encompassing. I am in their world. Writers bring their world to life when simple words are written. I can go to Atlantis, dissect a human, kill mummies, be a vampire, see into the mind of a beagle, fly with eagles, see the center of the Earth, view a rose in a way alien to me. I can do anything. I have yet to do everything. WORDS- little configurations with infinite meaning.

Hi Amy :) I think you've answered that question Really well! And this poem is proof of that :) Loved your answer and it's really so true, the power that words have are truly limitless :) I think I'll be keeping an eye out for any Anne Rice books that I see--I totally lament that our cities here in the Philippines lack public libraries & books can be expensive--most of the time I'm on a book hunt in 2nd hand thrift stores--i've only been able to watch the movie version ;)

Great job, Amy. Where would we be without words from the greatest. Kudos xxx Ralph. Amy - Working on an entry for your Concrete contest. Having a problem. My entry is in the form of a circle. Its about 14 or 15 lines. I center it on the page but every time I enter it the top line moves all the way over to the left margin ruining the circle effect. No matter what I try that first line moves - the others stay where they're supposed to. It's very frustrating - any suggestions? Thanks.
