Imperfectly Perfect

Imperfectly Perfect
My walk, I strut
Just to stiffle the hurt
Only, to protect my heart
From the world, that won't play it's part
The world that doesn't understand that
Beyond the mask
Is the imperfectly perfect.

I smile
It's perfect, I know
But it's mostly fake, not my style
But I do it, to hide from the gnaw
Of the world that won't believe that
Beyond the mask
Is the imperfectly perfect.

I preach kindness
But when will I ever meet tenderness?
I just fancy less pressure, stress
A love, not for me but everyone regardless
For a change, in a world that won't trust that
Beyond the mask
Is the imperfectly perfect.

They think I'm too fat, too skinny
I think I'm too beautiful
They think I'm not smart enough but I'm a genie
I mean genius, with a heart full
Full of glow
And a soul that has a seat at the front row
To all the good in a world that won't trust that
Beyond the mask
Is the imperfectly perfect.

I don't dress right
I'll never win the fight
I dream, but I'll never see the light
The blackbird, won't fly, 'cause that's some height
'Cause she's not "it", in the crowd she doesn't fit
Not in the world that refuses too see that
Beyond the mask
Is the imperfectly perfect.

Starve myself
Eat everything from the shelf
Which way? World, decide
Choose a side
But if you can't, then I'm an ideal
And she is the real deal
So don't push, just trust that
Beyond the mask
Is the imperfectly perfect.

Perfect image, perfect body
Why does it matter so much?
What if we made intellect matter more?
What if we really did see beauty from the inside out?
What if we judged less, appreciated more?
Then, then we would have a world that believes and invests
In something eternally priceless
Something beyond the mask
Something, imperfectly perfect.

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.

Paulette, beauty and body hide many flaws but some don't mind the contamination.

That's right Carlos. It's all about self love
