Impatient For Spring
Shafts of sunlight melt frozen flakes of snow,
as drop by drop, Winter trickles away.
And the snowdrops spontaneously show,
impatient for Spring to warm up the day.
Winter slowly fades, like a passing ghost,
as icicles start dripping from the eaves.
And yellow Daffodils, Nature's signposts,
guide Spring in, waving emerald green leaves.
Spring exudes the odor of life's rebirth,
subtle—it lingers sweetly on the breath.
For it's the fresh fragrance of Mother Earth,
the scent of resurrecting life from death.
The trees open their buds in early Spring,
morphing into a million shades of green.
And it's a treasure, Spring's eager to bring,
summoning flowers to color the scene.
