Immortal Love

As the holidays return
some hidden dream begins to burn
of days that quickly disappear
and fade away the images of years.

It seems a hundred lives ago
when we just prepped for the go
of living out our hopes shared as one
and the daily grind kept us ever on the run.

Now at last when we could rest
life laid out different unplanned tests
and the you and me of these final years
bathes my soul in forever tears.

In my heart the feelings are never lost
though our hearts and souls paid well the cost
yet I still can see your face and the smile
time was worth the steps in all our miles.

Wait for me, wait at the gate
this immortal love does not hesitate
to look for you at every bend
 my beloved and my friend.
