Imagination
We all have one
one of our very own
there is no need to share
no sulking because we think that we were not given enough
no guilt because we think that we were given too much
we do not have to hide that we own and use one
there is no shame in having one
for we all know
that everybody else has one
exactly like ours
and what makes it magical
is that no-one will ever know what we do in ours
unless of course we tell someone
it is the only place that affords us complete privacy
it has no boundaries, no restrictions, no limitations
what we do in it can never be judged or censored
praised or ridiculed
unless we do so ourselves
what we do in it can be erased
as if it never was
or retained
to be held and cherished
it does not rely on learning, wisdom or skills
a man lacking the talent can paint vistas of stunning beauty
a half-wit can rule over vast empires
a shy introvert can deeply move multitudes with his oration
a poor man can enjoy the bounty of kings
there is absolutely nothing that we cannot do in it
the only limitations are those that we ourselves impose
it is always there
it never runs out
it is never too distracted or fatigued to indulge us
it is our constant companion
very often our only companion
what a truly wondrous thing it is
this ever-accommodating
limitless
imagination of ours.
