I close my eyes to recall those times
In the early morning hours.
I can see the images clearly still
Every perfect line and curve of you, and me
Lying with you, vine and tree
Entwined in a timeless embrace.

It seemed timeless then, but the hours passed
Too quickly for us to hope it could last.
Time seemed to have a way of standing still
Yet just in our minds and not at our will.
It was not ours to command; it never was.
We tried to capture a moment and failed.
