I'M Trying To Get Over You

There was always that promise, But never that guarentee That I was yours to hold And you'd spend your life with me. Something inside of me Screamed to lay my trust on you, I don't know what made me do that, But love is what I learned to do. My tears are rising to the surface And billowing down my cheeks. Did you really gaze into my eyes? I never let the pain leak. Fear was my shelter; I hid under cover. I never openned up that way, You made me a lover. If I didn't look into your eyes, If I didn't touch your lips I wouldn't know heartbreak, I wouldn't feel tricked. When I found myself in you, That piece I didn't know I was missing, I knew you were different. Inside of you was something. Maybe the way you caressed me in your arms, The way you made me laugh, The way it killed to say goodbye, That it was me you looked at. We'll never be the same, Never again will I be with you. I learned my lesson, but most importantly, I learned how to say "I love you too."
