I'M Sorry For Being Nice To You

Five bucks here and five smokes there
Countless soda cans in return for a nickel a piece
Practically free . . .

"Thank you" Is hardly heard. "Please" On the other hand Is practically your favorite word.
It's nearly every day I tell myself to cut you off completely.
But I Just Can't
Never, ever, be something that I am not! Alls I have left to say is . . . I'm sorry for being nice to you. 4-26-17

hmmm. Well, I can relate, in a way, because I have a tendency to be an enabler. And it's hard to be something we're not. But a simple "thank you" is nice, and when we don't get it, it can be hurtful. Only once (that I can recall) have I had the experience of saying I was sorry for being nice to someone. Interesting poem, IZ, thanks for sharing your thoughts .
