I'M Right Here

I'm right here.

No one ever told me the rules of a relationship.

I'm right here.

How much it would hurt just looking at you.

Where did it say I'd be the one to take the blame?

Where did it say I'd be the one in pain?

I'm right here.

Falling out of your sight.

I'm right here.

The person waiting in the background no one cares about.

Trying to figure out where I went wrong.

What I didn't read.

What I missed.

I'm right here.

Standing right next to you hoping you'd grab my hand.

I'm right here.

Watching you flirt with all of the other girls.

I'm right here.

Waiting for you to look at me.

You didn't.

You won't.

Because you know what you did was wrong.

Or did you forget?

The drinks, the kiss.

The whispers of forever.

You gave it all away.

Threw me away like trash.

Like I was nothing.

Like what we had was nothing.

But I'll make you remember.

Because I'm right here,

In the back of your self-conscious.

Forget me not.

I'm right here.

Crying in my bedroom at night.

You look at me.

Look me on the eyes.

And I freeze.

You're walking towards me.

I can't breathe.

You brush past me and kiss the girl behind me.

I'm right here.

Paige, well done. All too often the "fine print" of a relationship gets lost in the lust of passion's haste. Thanks for participating in the contest.

I believe that you are so right! Relationships nowadays seem only to be created out of lust. And you're very welcome!
