I'M Only One Person

I’m only one person
On this vast blue earth
Searching for that place
Since the day of my birth.

I knew when I was born
That I wanted to be unique
Leaving behind a memoir
History buffs would seek.

I wanted a world
Where everyone got along
And violence faded
With a peaceful song.

But sometimes I grow weary
Of feeling others pain
Wishing from my heart
I could ease the loss they gain.

Many times I wonder
Why do I have to care
With a cold heart
I could walk with ignorant flair.

Am I the only one
Who ponders why I’m here
Questioning my purpose
With just an ounce of fear.

Why do words hound me
Every hour of every day
Filling me with emotion
That poetically guides my way.

I am but one person
Hoping my presence here
Will inspire another
Through a smile or a tear.

You are only one person, but you seem like a wonderful person. You are my favorite poet - I love your writing style!

The history of the poets who have read your wonderful poems will know they have witnessed some beautiful poetry. Its going to take some incredible writing to forget your poems, also the wisdom you show, and i doubt i will read better>>James

Caring as you do, I truly believe your presence will definitely make a difference, will bring a smile...I'm sorry to have missed this poem until now. Thank you so much for your kind comments this morning...it led me to this tenderhearted poem. I often feel the same way, wishing the world could only be a happier place, where people got along, lived in peace..it fills me with a helpless feeling. Thank you again. ~ Carrie
