I'M Not a Pretty Princess Anymore

Mommy kept me from school today
She was too tired to find me clean clothes
Cause her boyfriend just left
And I made her mad
When I spilled my cereal on the floor
I didn’t mean to

I pulled on my stretchy pink stockins’
They are ripped now
and torn
I looked around for my ballerina shoes
The ones that used to have
the pretty pink bow
but I think Mommy put them in the trash

My crown is missin’ a side
So it sits kinda crooked
And it’s missin’ all its diamonds
Daddy said they were real
But it’s not sparkly no more
And since Daddy left Mommy and me
I know I won’t get a new one

The TV is playing my favorite
Sponge Bob but I have to keep
the sound from bothering Mommy
I can see me in the TV
Like I’m sittin’ on the bottom of the sea
A knot is forming
Under my swollen eye
And I can see that too

Mommy’s on the couch
And I don’t want to wake her up
Just to tell her I’m hungry
And to tell her I’m sad
‘cause I’m startin’ to feel like,
Since Daddy left,
I’m not a pretty princess anymore

hmmm--this one broke my heart ! You have spoken for those not able to, and that is important, Why do some people treat the one's they should love, so badly ? That last line really says it all. The fact that it's true, and is happening every day, makes it so heart breaking. This poem should be posted where every parent could see it. Maybe it would cause some to stop and think. It certainly tells a story !
