I'M Not a Clock Or Bird Or Tree
If I was a clock,
I'd tick all day long.
I'd march like a soldier,
To a marchy march song.
Or maybe I'd be a bird,
And fly through the sky.
I'd fly up through the clouds,
Just to keep myself dry.
Or better still I could be a tree,
And be five hundred years old.
Standing still through the winds,
Heat waves and the cold.
But, alas, I'll never be a clock,
Or a bird or a tree.
I'm resigned to the fact,
I'll only ever be me.
