Notes About The Poem

I'M Letting Rip

BS ON PS The attitude of some folk I find quite abhorrent Poets shouldn’t be guilt tripped into leaving a comment No one knows what is going on in our life depression or illness that’s causing us strife Tragic loss of a pet, family member or friend or awaiting a life coming close to an end Maybe marital trouble has knocked them of course and sadly they're going through a complicated divorce Perhaps the poet is enjoying a luxury cruise or maybe they’ve lost their much treasured muse As a child I was taught, as I recall to say something nice or nothing at all I'll not lie saying a poem was well done just to leave a comment for someone So why are some 'sheeple' so quick to condemn and stir the soup pot by causing more mayhem? You are so kind, this is very compassionate Jan. I hope that people don't get offended by my absenteeism and lack of time to be on here, I think your picture posted with this poem actually reminds me of....me!! Congratulations on your win! I love the poets and poems on here...I hope I don't offend anyone by not having time to leave comments on very many <3

Indeed, Jan. Your wonderful pen is as thoughtful as it is compassionate. I love the title (so clever) and the insightful message you convey so very poetically. Belated congratulations for your win as well. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

Hey Jan! I don’t know how I missed this brilliantly written poem! It deserves all that attention it has obviously gotten - you’ve made your point crystal clear and have done do in a very poetic way. I hardly ever get to the blog - I’m happy if I have the time to post my poem and read and comment on a few each day, but I just can’t do more than that. I’m always appreciative of the few who comment on my poems and I don’t expect any more than that…

Hi Jan, words of wisdom in this write. It's way too easy to judge others. Congratulations on your win and the insights you penned.

I agree with you, Jan. Sometimes we are too quick to judge; one never knows what people are going through. I enjoy reading poetry, but it's impossible to comment on all of them. Time is never on my side!! ~ Hugs // paul

Lip service is not a comment Jan, I enjoy deciphering poems some can be quite difficult, some completely nonsensical, but actually quite funny, I honestly don't have the time to comment on every poem I read, with my work commitments, I totally agree people should not feel obliged to comment on any poem or poet whatsoever, you certainly let this one rip, great writing, cheers David

Quoting "Flower the Skunk's mother"...OK ...still valid even if a Disney character said it. Thanks for participating in the contest

Congratulations on your win Jan. Writing, reading the poetry of the PS community and commenting are truly a balancing act. You have expressed that perfectly. For me it is a choice on how to use the precious gift of time I have been given. Sometimes I have to make the choice between writing or commenting. I am so sorry that you go through this seemingly endless criticism. You are a gift to this site. Your messages are a gift to me! Hope you know how valued your are. Hugs!

You hit it on the nose with this, Jan. We never know what's going on in someone's life. I've been on such a roller-coaster ride with my life lately...I can truly understand where you are coming from. Hugs & love...Charlie

Thanks Charlie, it beggars belief how crass some folk can be on here especially when its do as i say and not as i do. I could have understood it had they been in the top ten community but were at ~81 when the blog was written and it just smack's of hypocrisy! hugs jan xx

Thanks Frances I see such bigotry and hypocrisy on the site. No one should be made to feel bad for not having time for the site - even if they have dropped by to post a poem for themselves and not had time to comment on others as i say no one knows what is going on in any of our lives. hugs jan xx

Such hypocrisy and I was saddened to see him trying to bait me by unblocking me so i could comment on his blog - i have him blocked for good reason. for someone who stated they would not blog again its obvious he is not a man of his word but he cant resist mouthing off:-( hugs jan xx

Well said. You made some great points. I try to return comments as a courtesy, to encourage others, and stay in touch, but sometimes I don't get around to it right away. We don't know what's going on with peoples' personal lives. I'm ignorant about all the behind the scenes drama that's going on around here.

The usual blog bully mouthing off but i think my poem hit home - none of us know what is going on in someone's life, you may pop by and post a comment and not have the time or the health etc to respond to comments and NON ONE should be made to feel guilty for not being active on the site:-( hugs Jan xx

what galls me Rick is folk are quick to point the finger in blogs (the hypocrisy hasn't gone un noticed) but at the end of the day no one knows exactly what is going on in someone's life and NO ONE should be shamed or made to feel guilty for not commenting or being active on the site:-) hugs jan xx

Thanks Mo and no one should be made to feel guilty for NOT being active with commenting and replying - there is more to life than soup but some folk dont seem to understand that and seeing them in a low position in community builder its a case of do as i say not do as i do but still they troll - :-( hugs jan xx

Jan, a perfect write for the contest and you reflect on many of the issues regarding commenting, I admire those who are good commentors because it takes time and effort. I don't think being part of this community should be entirely based on commenting, there are many other aspects and ways to be a valuable part of PS, love _Constance

Thanks Constance, I read your comment on the blog and know you have issues with your eyes and you comment as much as you can and host and respond to contest entries, you are to be admired, shame the pot stirrer has to blog when he cant even follow his own advice. hugs jan xx

You are very right, Jan. I read many poems. Some I ignore, others I comment on. Pity there are idiots who don't know the art of criticism. Hugs.
Allison Avatar

Its not about the art of criticism though Victor - people have no clue what is really going on in our lives and no one should feel beholden to reply to comments - there is more to life than PS, hugs jan xx

Thanks Harry , I'm so glad you understand where I am coming from and I thank you for your support. Many people have hit crisis with the pandemic and other life issues yet some folk are worried about lack of comments on the site. I read your comment on the blog . Despite his offer I will never respond so he may as well block me again. Hugs jan xx
