I'll Write You A Poem

I'll Write You A Poem
Kevin Davis 2025

I’ll write you a poem, it speaks quite a lot,
Some things are true, and some things are not.
The evening breeze will softly sing,
The trees reveal what secrets cling.

The stars above tell tales of flight,
Of dreams that sail through endless night.
In silver beams the moonlight streams,
Awakening our hidden dreams.

A river winds with stories old,
Of tender love and love made bold.
The mountains rise, steadfast, apart,
The keepers of both time and heart.

I once was young, alive, and free,
The sky was wide, a boundless sea.
Each day a canvas, fresh and bright,
My guiding stars lit up the night.

I laughed with joy, I danced with glee,
The world was wide in front of me.
Each step I took, a new delight,
Each dawn was born in morning light.

But time rolls on, the seasons turned,
The lessons deep, the wisdom earned.
Yet still within, a flame remains,
A youthful spark that breaks all chains.

So, though the years may come and go,
And gentle seeds of wisdom grow,
I’ll treasure love from long ago,
And keep it burning, warm and slow.

I’ll raise my glass, I won’t give in,
I’ll greet each day where dreams begin.
With love that shines and hope above,
I’ll walk this world with those I love.

So take these lines, both false and true,
And let them weave their song for you.
For rhyme and truth together stay,
And carry hearts along the way.

And still I think of days gone by,
With tender smile, I don’t ask why.
Those memories live, so sweet, so rife—
All made with you, my dearest wife.

Chorus
I carry you in every song, In every right and every wrong. The years may pass, the skies may change, but love like ours will still remain.
Or
Truth and dream, they intertwine, In every breath, in every line. The past still sings, the heart still knows, where love once bloomed, it always grows.
Or
So, I’ll sing with stars and dance with trees, Let memory float on evening breeze. With love that lasts and dreams that stay, I’ll greet the dawn in my own way.

They are all excellent as chorus. I say use them all but if I must choose use the first one which says, “ I carry you in every song, In every right and every wrong. The years may pass, the skies may change, but love like ours will still remain.”

All I can say is WOW I am not easily impressed by many poets, but you have truly impressed me this poem rhyme and meter flow effortlessly giving it wonderful imagery and given the length of the poem this is quite a treat well done
