I'll leave before you let me go

I'll leave before the day I know you'll let me go

Because , you see, you have no idea how good I'm not for you

You put me on this pedestal where I know I don't belong 

And yet, though I'm standing right in front of you, you can't seem to see how many pieces I'm broken into

Now sure, I may smile in your presence, laugh as if the world and everyone in it is like a dream come true

But that fact of the matter is, I haven't been happy in such a long time

And you may think that the reason I left was because something must have been wrong with you, but no, it's the other way around

How can I stay  and have you fall in love with my false presentation 

How can continue to allow you to put me up so high where I know eventually I will not meet your expectations 

So, as I said before, I'll leave before the day you let me go

Leave so you will have this lasting impression of who you thought I was before I ruin it with who I truly am

I need you to remember me as someone I'll never be

Because if you found out who I really was, I would have never felt a love like what you've shown me.
