I'Ll Have the Fish

I once was a fish,
a thin skeleton
and fleshy
except for my fins.

I once wanted to swim upstream,
just to see
if I could.

I didn’t make it all the way.

That’s how I ended up here,
on this plate
with a butter sauce
dripping into every crevice of my exposed musculoskeletal structure.

I was a fish,
now I’m a dish,
in some 3 star restaurant.

I hope I taste good,
at least
worth the $23 bucks, and the drive.
