Ikpa Mbeke

The sun rises from the east,
On a faithful tuesday(Ikpa Mbeke),
Men and women getting ready for the day,
The market waiting for occupants,
Here comes the humans,
Smiles on each faces,
Throwing morning greetings,
Ready for the day,
It began on three sides.

Those who are selling well,
Came early to catch the early traders,
And school children on their way to learn,
Thanking God for a successful start.

Those who are selling slowly,
Due to not early enough,
And are managing
It as it came,
Thinking of how the goods
Will be sold fast.

Those who came late,
Having worked at home first,
Decided to come and sell,
But were disappointed,
When the goods don't
Seems to attract buyers,
Anger and anguish became
The order of the day,
Cursing the day and
Why they came,
Quickly they packed and forgot the
Morning greetings and smiles
In the market,
And left for home,
Thoughts flows in the mind,
How to feed the family.
