If You Were Never Young

on my own, blue rains are beside me
darkness
never strolled on the beach with him
my words
his confession
the sunset - - are all dim
I chase after his morning
to embrace a calming sea

but it you were never young
how could you gaze
at the crashinq waves
when you swam
