If You Live In America

Be thankful, my friend, you live in America Where liberty and freedom are still prized, Even when threatened by nasty political lies Body politic suffering from fake news bulimia And divisiveness forces you to take up a side, Stand firm for your basic, fundamental right To speak your mind, your opinions to write If everyone around you goes with the tide, Remember those patriots who stood the test Who fought to give us ideals we can cherish, Bled and died that our freedom would flourish You live in America, still most free of the rest.

I am so glad we can still do this "Stand firm for your basic, fundamental right To speak your mind, your opinions to write"

Oh, I am, too, Caren. When we lose those rights, I'm afraid our democracy is over. Because then, our constitution will not mean anything at all.

I agree. America is still freer than the rest. Sure do hope it stays that way. Time will tell... Faith and Strength, gw

I'm optimistic most of the time, gw, but occasionally I realize that we have more work to do than is humanly possible. That is where God must step in.
