consciousness that makes us aware
steering us safely through dreams
enabling discernment in the waking state
and facilitating emergence from trance
of enigmatic inky black dreamless sleep
what is the source of this consciousness
closer to us than our own skin, oh hermit
and how may we become one with it
without any drop in our flowing awareness?
