If You Ever Come Back

If you ever come back, it’ll all have changed,
But I’ll still be the same,
We won’t look back on what we’ve lost,
There’ll be no one to blame.

If you ever come back, I’ll smile at you,
Because I’ve missed you so;
I won’t remind you how I’ve cried
Back when you let me go.

If you ever come back, then you should know
My door was never closed at all.
My ears kept hoping that one day
They’d hear your footsteps down the hall.

If you ever come back, I will forgive
All the sleepless nights I’ve spent
Wondering if you still carried
My memory with you where you went.

If you ever come back, it’s gonna be
Just like you were never gone;
But in every dream I dream,
You leave again before the dawn.
