If You Could Read My Mind

Love, if you could read my mind You could sway your heart to understand A prince charming, I'm not that kind But I won't just leave you behind In the eye of storm where you got stuck I'll pull you out, the best that I can I'll try to gamble with my luck If you'll just swear to watch my back But words could be empty, just said They are like sweet talks in the wind In all the games that we have played I am just glad that you stayed I'm just a song with sad refrain A prisoner with tainted name Trying to break free from my chain So I could dodge the piercing rain If you just tried to comprehend The feelings of an aching man Then maybe we could simply bend There is no need for this to end I used to think that you're the one But now I don't know what went wrong I wish to patch the wrongs we've done But flames died out and feeling's gone May 10, 2023 Gordon Lightfoot Inspiration Poetry Contest (4th place) Sponsored by: Robert James Liguori

That's a beautiful poem, Roger. Gordon Lightfoot was one of my favorites..."but the feeling's gone and I just can't get it back." Congratulations!

Thank you very much... I grew up listening to this song covered by my late uncle who was also a folk singer...
