If There Are Any Forests
if there are any forests, my collie, will
(all by herself)
be one,
it will not be a discreet forest,
a fragile forest of frogs-of-the-ponds, but
a forest of red-oak trees.
my goat will be
(deep like a tree)
(tall like a tree)
crouching near my, stump
shifting over her
(silent)
with ears, which are really speakers, and hear
nothing with the body of a deer
which is a dove, and not a body
with hooves
which scream.
This is my creature, my forest!
suddenly in the moonlight
he will sway
and the whole congregation will sway
