If the Past Could Last

if the past could last
we would not need a camera
 we would not need to
 take note's
 if the past could last
 we would not need hugs
 to show we care
we would not argue and fight
and insist we are always right,
 if the past could last
we would not need to remember
 people names
 everything would just stay
 the same
 oh
 if the past could last
 our baby's and teenagers
 would not have to worry
 about there future
 there faces would look young
 and they would not
grow up and be killed by guns
 if the past could last
 we may not have sickness
 or pain the world
and when we get our first
and only kiss we would be thrilled,
 if the past could last
we would not need nursing homes
each of us our hair would not
 fall out
we would not become stiff and just
 keep walking all about,
 if the past could last
God would stay in our heart
if you believe from the very start
 everyone would love
no matter what color your sin
 says the one above,
if only the past could last.,,,,,,,,,
