IF SHE ONLY KNEW

IF SHE ONLY KNEW
BY ALICE MARAGLIA

Standing on the corner, she calls to her lovers
waving to strangers, hoping to get their attention.
Slowly, a car pulls up with promised intentions,
"Hey baby, want a ride"?

"Whatcha got in mind sugar"?, She climbs in
to the smell of weed, cigarettes and alcohol.
"How about a little music"? as her
clothes become unbuttoned.

Reluctantly, she offers herself to his cold,
calloused hands. They slide up and
down her body like a snake slithering around
her waist. He tightens his grip on her, then
thrusts himself into her.

Her soul leaves her body, as he continues to violate
her. Looking down from above her, she remembers
her youth. "Where is God" when I need him most?
She exists, no more, He finishes, and tosses her
out of the car to the curb, like a used razor.

No longer, viable, only an empty shell of a woman, lies
on the cold concrete. No one cared about finding her.
Suddenly, out of the cold night air, Yeshua, picks her
up, and takes her to her destiny. No longer does she
feel the pain of rejection.

Yeshua, restores her brokenness, clothes her in white
where she will be with him forever.
If she only knew, she might have believed sooner.
