IF ONLY YOU WERE HERE
The rain still falls where we once stood
each drop a word we didn’t say
and though the world has learned to smile
I only hear your laugh instead.
The nights are long, the stars too far
they do not shine the way they did
when your soft breath would meet my heart
and make the silence feel like home.
If only you were here tonight
to see the moon still keeps your name
to know I kept our tender dreams
though time has changed their fragile frame.
Yet in my chest, your echo stays
a ghost that talk of what was near
and though I live, I whisper still
if only you, my love, were here.
