If Only In a Dream

Sleep presses on my eyes
Blurring the world before me
How can I tell what is real?
Or what is the beginning of a dream?
I see you standing in the mist of my reality?
Long hair held back by glistening jewels
A white flowing gown blowing in a nonexistent breeze
Skin as smooth as the purest ivory
Eyes that see into my soul
Revealing my deepest hidden feelings
Feelings that you may not want to share
Are you really there?
Are you a piece of my imagination?
My eyes will close
The dream world will become my only reality
And, until my eyes open with the first light of morn
I will have you in my life
And once again…I will feel love
If only in a dream.

Sometimes the romance we find in our dreams can carry us through the day, Rob. Too bad dreams fade with sunrise. Lovely images and deep expressions of loneliness. You know I can relate to this work. Very nicely written! Love, Carolyn
