If Only I Could
If only I could escape this cul-de-sac,
This dead-end street where dreams go to die,
Where the houses all look the same,
And the roads lead nowhere but a sigh.
If only I could spread my wings and fly,
Beyond this maze of monotony,
Where every turn feels like a dead end,
And the horizon is but a fantasy.
If only I could break free from this cycle,
This never-ending loop of routine,
Where the days blur into one another,
And life feels like a meaningless scene.
If only I could find a way out,
Of this cul-de-sac that holds me tight,
And discover the world beyond its borders,
Where adventure and wonder take flight.
But perhaps the cul-de-sac is where I belong,
Where the familiar streets and faces bring comfort,
Where the routine gives me a sense of purpose,
And the mundane moments are what I cherish and support.
For sometimes the greatest adventures,
Are found in the simplicity of life,
And the journey is not about escaping,
But finding joy in the everyday strife.
So if only I could change one thing,
It wouldn't be this cul-de-sac I roam,
But the way I see and appreciate,
The beauty that surrounds me, even close to home.
