If Only

If only once I could hear God’s cry Then maybe I could reach out and touch him and ask him why. If only I walked this earth Then I could show the dead what it’s really worth. If only people walked without the sun in their face Then they could see clearly that the devil’s all over the place. If only I receive more chances to control my dreams I would visit the Heavens and we’d form quite a team. If only I could live my life in another mans shoes Having to keep in mind all of the abilities that I’d lose. If only I had more friends that followed God But I have very few and today that doesn't seem odd. If only I could purify all the land Then I could better the ground in which I stand. If only I had the heart of Jesus in which is so warm But he has it for loving us in any shape or form. If only I was the same as I was once before Then I could simply look into the sky and see what god has in store. If only I could restore the life of just one person Then that would save me from having to say all of the lines that I have been rehearsing. If only I had the power of the lord Many things that have been lost would be restored. If only I could set sail into the sea of tears Then at the other end would be the key to everyone’s fears. If only people kept there hearts and minds awake Then they would clearly see the monsters that they make. If only I answered all the questions that I’m asked But I don’t because that makes them to simple to be unmasked. If only I were just a little bit stronger I’d be able to last for just a little while longer. If only a whole would become a part I’d strike to burn And once that happens the flame returns. If only I could find out exactly why I’m here I’d be fine. But I know that in the glory will be mine.
