If Only

IF ONLY

Sometimes I wonder
What it would have been like
What we would have been like
Together
Sometimes, thinking back,
To all those opportunities,
Those golden opportunities,
Whether
Maybe, just maybe,
If I had said something,
If I had done something
Would you?
Maybe have felt the same.
Were you just waiting?
Were you anticipating?
Could you?
If only, back then,
I had not been hesitant,
I had not been reticent
Who knows?
If only, by magic,
I could go back and say
What I wanted to say
Who knows?
