If I Were John Or Mary
If I had lived two thousand years ago
and were I John or Mary
I would have had the Lord's ear
or rather He,
mine.
But I live now
in constant search and question
of this reality in which I live.
Because of you
I sense His existence
His words and actions.
Your care, kindness and love
allows me to believe
that He lives within us.
If I had lived in that past
perhaps my faith would be stronger
never wondering or questioning.
But I live now
and see only
what is before me,
You.
