Teddy Kimathi Poet Free verse

If I Were An Elephant

If I were an elephant,
I would be proud of my tusks,
proud of my trunk,
proud of my fanning ears,
proud of my tough hide....

I would walk as though I was kissing
the ground with my hooves,
as a way of paying homage
to the ground that gave me berries,
trees for shade, and water.
