If I Were a Tree
Sky overhead, ground below, stance erect
Roots with brethren entwined, in the forest
Sequoia redwood tall, with roots far spread
United we all stand, being well bred
Helping each other, judging not merit
Immune to disease, though no one suspects
Fire resistant, no ash to lament
Purity vibrant, our lives thus far led
Sky overhead
Life span centuries, in bliss throb perfect
For Mother Earth, we have utmost respect
Sunlight our food, upon which we are fed
Useful we are, long after we are dead
Pristine presence, no desires to ferret
Sky overhead
