If I Were a Poet

If I were A Poet

If I were a poet, I would write a poem celebrating your nuptials
I wouldn't call the moon by it's name, but call it your visage instead!

If I were a poet, I would...

I would whisk you away like perfume on the wings of the breeze
All my life, I would keep you hidden from the world's prying eyes
Even if my heart asked after you, I would not divulge the secret!

If I were a poet, I would...

My good fortune fills my heart with a strange dread
Lest some enemy's evil designs befall these moments of joy
What could I do but utter prayers to ward off the Evil Eye!

If I were a poet, I would...

As my last duty of love, my life would have fallen at your feet
And to this duty of love I would expound as prostration

If I were a poet, I would..

May the Bride flourish, may the groom prosper
May this poem of mine forever remain the preface to our love
Like someone praying on the rosary to ward off evil
My poem guards you like that of last verses of the Holy Gita!

If I were a poet, I would..

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.
