If I Were a Bouquet

If I was a bouquet, I would be full and bushy with purple and lavender flowers. Violets, lilac, white baby’s breath, fuchsia crepe myrtle, pink knock-out roses Streams of orange and yellow silk ribbons would flow as a petticoat. I would be dancing and jiving to jazzy music as my bride skipped down the aisle Her father would have to try and keep up with her jazzy dance moves.

Personality-wise, I suspect you are, Caren. Would you explain to me why it is "If I was" instead of "If I were?" I know both are correct, depending upon usage, but I've forgotten when, so I just use "If I were" all the time. An old English teacher called my hand on it one time.

Good 'nuff. I need to find the answer to this, though. It'll drive me bonkers!
