If I Sing Again
If I sing again
Let me sing a song like sea immortal
And empty of pain
When fresh flowers fade and so final
If I sing again
Let me sing like soft stars universal
And never to wane
For hope like matter is so temporal
If I sing again
Let the flight of birds inspire me
To soar without disdain
From clef to clef of unseen mercy
If I sing again
Let me be a cataract and child in glee
Where joy is never vain
For my child, and for all immortality.
