If I Say I'M Sorry
So, If I say i'm sorry
For what I say or what I do
Does my apology really matter
If I don't believe it to be true?
All of our perceptions are contingent
On what we hear and what we see
Beliefs get formed
It's a large part of our subconscious biology
So, what you might find to be offensive
Perhaps I might find to be true
If that bothers you immensely
That's not on me - that's on you
So if I offend you, you allowed it
You gave strength to my words
You gave me power I never had
I find that funny, and quiet absurd
When you allow your emotions dictate the narrative
You rationalize your thoughts to be the truth
You create your own reality
Victimization typically ensues
The key to all our issues
The true liberator of our mind
Is to discern with logic and reason
When dealing with trouble in hard times
So I'm sorry if my position
Offends you in any way
However, the only person you can change is you
When you acknowledge, it makes for a better day
For me - Im sorry isn't needed
For what you think, or anything you might say
I respect your right to say it
Because my self-esteem - makes everything ok
