If I Died Today

If I died today would I be dead tomorrow
would I lie in wait for my funeral service
or be cremated and ashes placed in an urn
Would someone bother to notice my demise
or would plenty grieve for my departure
Should my body wear a suit of black
or cover me in cloth of gold
Would I be dead tomorrow?
if I died today?
or would I ascend into a promise of belief
or descend into an abyss of flames
Would my lost soul wander the earth
or would my full spirit glow within the light of eternal
Is your belief your destiny
Is your fear your damnation
this fragile existence of human life
by any means in any way can end suddenly
or linger far into a century of mortal being
Am I ready to die, have I accepted fate
or do I just exist in living ignoring mortality
day by day night through night until it is not
All in all is all
Can you overthink what you do not know
but believe what you want to believe
Whatever gets you through
whatever lets you sleep at night.
