If I Did Not Love You
A poem for every parent.
If I didn’t love you, would I say I care?
Would it matter where you going or what you have to wear?
If I didn’t love you, would I want to hear?
Everything you did today while I hold you near.
If I didn’t love you, would I ever say?
“Come let’s kneel down and thank our Lord for yet another day.”
If I didn’t love you, would I say goodnight?
Would I tuck you in your bed before switching off the light?
If I didn’t love you, when you feeling ill.
Would I take your temperature while you suffering with the chill?
If I didn’t love you, would I stick around?
Listen to your cruel insults, fighting on this battleground.
If I didn’t love you, would I let you go?
Praying that you’ll see the light and know I love you so.
