If I Could Be the Moon
Oh if I could be the moon
The object of desire
The pearl of the darkened night
That sparks a lovers fire
I'd shine with all my glory
And illuminate the way
Of strangers lost along the path
Just seeking light of day
Oh if I could be the moon
I'd sit on heavens hill
And watch down on the Earth at night
While all is calm and still
I'd glow for all the creatures
That depend upon the night
To keep them safe in shadows
As they forage for their life
Oh if I could be the moon
A silent sentinal
I'd ask the gods to move the Earth
When I was less than full
I'd burn through clouds
I'd shine through rain
I'd dominate the dark domain
I'd call the stars to be my guest
And join me in my lunar quest
Oh if I could be the moon
I'd never hide my face
I'd shine so proud that all would know
I've found my place in space
